Easterseals

I helped Easterseals redefine its purpose.

Easterseals is America’s largest nonprofit health care organization. They've been around more than 100 years. Chances are good you've heard of them. Maybe you know they have something to do with "disabilities." If you're of a certain age, you might remember the actual "Easter seal" stamps. But do you know what it is Easterseals actually does — and what they stand for?

When outsiders thought about Easterseals, they thought of it as an organization to which you sent money to "take care of a problem." But that's never been the case. From the start, Easterseals has been about bringing people into the light. While offering many essential serivces to people with disabilities, Easterseals was also a primary force behind the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I helped Easterseals move up from talking about the idea of "taking on" disabilities to what had always been at the core of its purpose: full equity, full inclusion and full access for ALL people.
